Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870 GV-R6870C-1GD 3 fans works FINE in EVERY KNOWN TEST in OSX 10.6.7 with Andy hack installer. My machine: a custom DSDT, 8GB Q6600 ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP GOAL: upgrade to Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870 GV-R6870C-1GD (hassle free support in 10.6.7, more common than 6850). I have an AMD Radeon HD 6870. Hi All! I am an audio guy so graphics and monitors/resolution are concepts I don't think about too often so I need a little help ;-)
My old build (2012) has an XFX Radeon HD 6870 graphics card. My even older monitor (2005 Apple Cinema Display) is getting very dark with time and I would like to replace it with a 4K monitor.
Will this work? I know the XFX Radeon HD 6870 has a lower resolution (max 2560 x 1600 with HDMI 1.4a) than the Samsung U28E590D 28-Inch 4K monitor I want (3840 x 2160).
Does this simply mean that I will have less resolution if I use this combo? Or does it mean the monitor won't work at all?
Less resolution is ok with me as I plan to use the monitor (eventually) with my next build and 4K compatible card. I just don't want it to look like total crap while still using it with the older build.
ALL ADVICE WELCOME!
Thank!

Main problem : I can't use see the bootcamp screen to pick which drive to bootfrom aka open windows. I tried to do it by memory and it still wouldn't load.. Curious if anyone knows how to get that screen back. also here's my specs etc. if that helps:
Processor: 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Radeon Hd 6870 For Mac Pro 12.9
Memory: 16 GB
![Pro Pro](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Z2oAAOSwIk9aeE~J/s-l300.jpg)
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 6870 2048M MB

Also not sure if this makes any difference I got the consumer preview of Windows 8 and am running that in bootcamp ( or I was running it til the graphics card upgrade)
